Personal summary

I'm coming from a technical background (BS in Electronics & Telecommunication) however I always had an eye for the "visual part" of the world. Initially working in the fields of data analysis (market research, opinion polls) and data visualization for over a decade, I had an opportunity to turn to interactive data visualization in 2010. Since then, I realized that my big advantage against the only/predominantly technical guys or visual artists is that I understand a little bit of both sides, and I tend to know why something would work or would not work technically and visually, and I can combine those skills in an effective manner. After using several data visualization tools like the now retired Xcelsius/SAP Dashboard Design and Antivia DecisionPoint, or Tableau, R Shiny/HTML/CSS and Gephi, I have focused on Microsoft Power BI in the last 6 years, appreciating its great flexibility (comparable to the old, "basic" Lego’s.) Besides its powerful data handling tools and DAX language, Power BI allows us to build even funny stuff, e.g. with an added svg component, which can be very useful when clients need more than the usual charts and tables in their reports. My main goals and enjoyment in my work are to develop custom-tailored interactive reports that the users find both very useful and intuitive to use, and to build a friendly professional relationship with my clients.
